Sandy Brown

Sandy Brown wanted to be a doctor since she was nine and her pet cat Tildy was hit by a car outside her childhood home. She cared for the cat all afternoon until it passed just before sunset. Her mother found her on the porch cradling the tiny animal in her arms and only after a long conversation was she resolved to bury it in the rose garden where a solitary river rock headstone remains to this day.

Sandy got pregnant during her first year in medical school and when her boyfriend refused to help her raise the child, she dropped out of school when the baby was due but lost it to complications. Sandy lost the drive she once had to pursue her dream of becoming a doctor and one bad relationship after another led her to an adult vocational school at night where she earned her credentials in nursing and administration. She has worked for the public clinic for ten years.
