Jessie Morgan Hall

Jessie was born the only child to Henry and Dede Hall. She had an early affection for boyish things, grew up a tomboy and spent much of her time musing with inanimate objects, insects, and the squirrels that would venture into her yard. She preferred the company of her father to her mother, though remained equally affectionate to both of them until plans to relocate to Florida drove a wedge between her and her mother.

After her mother's death she withdrew from school and her friends. She lost interest in basketball and her studies. Her grades fell even after repeated failed group meetings with her teachers and father. Henry simply could not formulate a way into her quiet searches for the answers to complex things like love, death, and happiness. She spent a growing amount of time with her aunt Lillian through the remainder of grade school and high school. Lillian encourage her to pursue creative writing to match her interests in Sylvia Plath and Annie Dillard, but a short semester at city college proved fruitless and she dropped out. It became difficult for her to hold down any reasonable job and she moved quite regularly from boyfriend to boyfriend.

Jessie lives alone in a small apartment making ends meet by working odd office jobs. Her current employment is with a small computer support company for low wages and irregular hours.

Jessie hasn't had a real relationship with her father since the accident. At first everyone grieved equally. But Jessie sensed that Henry harbored a deep seated anger that she believed was directed at her that kept them at a distance. Jessie has all but given up hope that her father will ever accept her back into his life. She is currently in another abusive relationship with a tow truck driver she went out with on a dare.
